Difficult Tree Removal

Tree removal is more than grabbing an ax or chainsaw and cutting away. Just do a quick Youtube search for tree removal fails if you don’t believe us! And some trees are even more difficult to remove than others. We specialize in tricky and difficult tree removal.

Wonder what makes one tree harder to remove than another? Today, we’ll share some basics of difficult tree removal to help you understand what NRV Tree Guy does.

Difficult Tree Removal: The Basics

Many things can make tree removal more complex, from the everyday to the oddly specific (like a tree growing around an object). However, the most common elements that make for difficult tree removal are the size and species of the tree, its location, and weather conditions.

Tree Size and Type

A tree is a tree is a tree? Hardly! Different tree species have different densities of wood. A maple tree is far denser than a pine, which is why many people can chop down their own Christmas tree, but few are hauling off a maple.

Some trees are also more likely to have complex root systems, which make removal far more complicated.

The tree’s size is probably the most apparent complicating factor to laypeople. A 3 story tree is obviously far more complex and time-consuming to remove than a sapling.

Tree Location and Difficult Tree Removal

There are several ways a tree’s location can create a more difficult tree removal. The most common involve the ability to get to the tree, its environment, and obstacles around it.

Getting There

When NRV Tree Guy removes trees, we use heavy equipment with plenty of safety precautions in place. We also often use our ladder truck.

If your tree is in the middle of a densely wooded area, driving a truck directly to it will be impossible at the outset. That means we either need to find an alternative means of removing it or clear a path ourselves to get there.

Obstacles

Another issue with your tree’s location is the obstacles around it. One of the most common reasons homeowners remove a tree is that it is a danger to their home or other structure. So that means, in this case, difficult tree removal is also one of the most common tree removals!

Obstacles to tree removal may include structures, power lines, and other trees.

Other Trees

Like your tree’s location, the trees around it can get in the way of removing it. But sometimes, you are removing a tree specifically to allow your other trees to thrive, so clearing a path isn’t an option, and we will take precautions to keep your healthy trees that you’re keeping safe.

Structures

Sometimes, we’re called out to remove a tree that’s fallen on a structure. Ideally, we want to intervene before that happens! Either way, keeping your home, garage, or other structures safe is one thing that separates experienced professionals from amateurs.

Power and Utilities

Finally, utility lines are the other most common reason for cutting down a tree. If a company is putting in lines in your area, they will typically handle the offending tree, but if you have a tree that is growing into a danger to a line, they will ask the property owner to remove it.

Sometimes, you can trim the offending tree, but other times, a complete tree removal is necessary.

Weather

Finally, inclement weather is our least favorite reason for a difficult tree removal! Obviously, we can cut down a tree during a lightning storm or blizzard, but occasionally, you may need a tree removed under less dangerous but less-than-ideal weather conditions.

When you have an emergency, we will take all the necessary safety precautions to get your home and tree into a safer situation, even when it’s not comfortable.
